I have recently been working on a memoir which is now published. I was asked to write it by the family of Susan Tang, the mum of friends of mine who I had got to know quite well. It has been an interesting experience to research her amazing life, with the help of her family and some historical research. Hopefully, it is also an enjoyable read!
The memoir goes back to the beginning of Susan’s life, in 1932, when she was born in China. The story is told of her experiences as a child during war, how she came to meet her husband David in Sri Lanka, and the steps which led to them and their children arriving in the UK during the 1970’s.
Susan Tang had a strong faith in Jesus which helped her wherever she travelled. It continued to be evident once she settled in Watford for the last stage of her life. There she was able to worship and serve in the local church, while also supporting her family. I was pleased to be able to include in the memoir some tributes written by her children and grandchildren which help to emphasise the impact she had on many lives as she praised and served her Lord. For myself, there is a direct link with this website since she enthusiastically shared my Treasure Tree books when they were published. Not only did this means I was able to sell more copies than otherwise; it also encouraged me to keep on writing and to believe in my vision as a writer which is reflected in this website.
This book, Waymaker within the trees, is the first one I have published through Amazon KDP. This in itself has been a fascinating journey as I’ve learnt about the process along the way. So now the print format is for sale around the world, through the Amazon websites in the different regions. I’m also pleased to say that I have published my first ever eBook version on Amazon as well, one which includes a number of photos that help to illustrate Susan’s remarkable story.
